los angeles-based artist davey legend is back with his fourth single of 2025. “INBETWEEN”, featuring 4DRIAN, is a deeply contemplative track that examines the bare, unresolved feelings of frustration and anguish in a relationship stuck in limbo, teetering on the edge between a downward spiral and salvation. Following the more upbeat offerings of “bang!”, “subliminal” and “internal monologue,” this new effort is both vulnerable and mesmerizing.

split into two sections - one rapped in frustration by 4DRIAN and the other sung in remorse by davey legend - the inspiration behind “INBETWEEN” is as complex as the piece itself. davey happened upon a file on his hard drive that was labeled “hmmmmmmmmm,” which turned out to be an early session with his regular collaborator, 4DRIAN. “it was just his verse over the beginnings of what would become the ‘INBETWEEN’ beat,” davey explains. “i recall where he was at the time he made it - his relationship was at a breaking point. amazingly, when I pulled the song up, i was also in the same situation. actually, so was my manager! it felt like a sign from the universe to finish it.”

“INBETWEEN” interprets the clarity that comes at the edge of a relationship - a split second in time when everything is suspended in the space between closing down or reconciliation. a place we have all been. “it’s about coming to terms with the good, the bad, and the ugly,” davey notes. “that moment where you have come to grips with yourself and what you did, and what they did. that feels healing, and also like someone has to be the one to say it’s too late.”

“INBETWEEN” is rooted in inspirations from artists such as frank ocean, kid cudi, and imogen heap and lays bare the brutally clear self-awareness that comes with love on the brink of loss.
